Dinosaur Isle is Britain's first purpose built dinosaur museum and visitor attraction. The building displays many fossils and life size reconstructions of the island's dinosaurs. Although a new building, the large collection of dinosaur and the fossils from the island has its origins in 1819. Dinosaur Isle is part of The Isle of Wight Councils Museum Service. The Isle of Wight is the most important site for dinosaur remains in Europe.
The Museum opened in 1996, and currently houses an exciting collection of sailing and power boats, of both local and national interest and importance.
As well as the exhibitions in the Museum, we have a restoration shed where work takes place all year round, restoring to their original condition boats that are part of our maritime heritage.
Chessell Pottery lies in the heart of the beautiful, unspoilt West Wight countryside.
Comprising a working pottery, decorating studio (where you can have a go at decorating your own hand made English pottery) courtyard café and gift barn, there’s something for everyone, not to mention the ‘Ultimate Island Cream Tea’.
A journey on the multi award-winning Isle of Wight Steam Railway is an unforgettable experience for all the senses.
For the family and casual visitor, we offer a unique and exciting day out, as you step back to a bygone era when steam power was the order of the day. We are one of Britain’s Heritage Railways and a registered educational charity, but we’re also much more besides.
